Being a Geocaching.com or Groundspeak distributor we are able to purchase genuine travel bugs.
Groundspeak have just released there new Travel Marble which we hope to have in stock come the new year, but in the mean time you can pre-order yours to make sure you are the 1st in New Zealand get your grubby hands on one

Ok so I thought we should give opencaching.com a try and put out 4 caches that have bee
n rejected by our good friends the reviews for being to close to a multi stage. These 4 caches have NOT been published before and are not on any other site, so go get those FTF’s boys and girls !!!
2 of the caches OXZTY1E and OXZTY1G we put out on a nice walk around North Head in Auckland last May. They are both in a great location’s and kids will love the walk. Bring your camera as there are some great views while doing these caches !
OXZTY1D was placed in Nov and over looks the “Battle of the bridge” where war broke out in 2009. For all those confused about this note see some of the caches like GC1T03H and all the other caches around it ![]()
My Last cache OXZTY1C was put out some months ago and is one of my nasty black Nano’s hidden in a big tree and its name is correct Nano Hell ! I placed it there because good friend’s of ours Kiwifamily (read there great blog) where getting complaints about a hanging Nano he had in a tree GC29BKP, and this was in plain sight, I know we got FTF on it. I though bugger all of you I will make this very hard and put a smaller Nano in a tree not in plain sight like my fiends did.
Am I bad he he he heeee
I must admit I hardly ever put contact details in my caches however today I was contact via our shop site by a work man putting up a new comms tower in Whakatane with a cache name and I was able to contact the owner of the cache to inform him that his cache was RIP and he could collect the box from the work men.
I would suggest always putting a card or sticker on the cache with the GC number and website details.
This goes to show there are still nice helpful people out there in New Zealand !

It looks like opencaching.com is up and running
so far there are no geocaches in New Zealand but I am sure that will change soon
You are allowed 3 cache types Traditional, Multi & Puzzle I was hoping that the missing cache types would come back like Virtuals, Web Cam etc.…
I don’t know if this site will take off but if I was you I would get in quick and register your nick name before some bright spark steals your name from under you

I was thinking today (Yes I do sometimes use my brain) the amount of items that we use on a regular bases to Geocache is just amazing this is just a list of items that comes to mind while writing the blog entry I am sure there are many more that Catherine caries in her caching bag
IPhone because we love the maps and the ability to search local caches live. and those FTF’s just show up without having to sync the GPSR, The Iphone is also very good at logging the cache and travel bug logging. We also use the in built camera for most of our caching pictures, we take a picture at all caches we do and some of these end up on this blog
IPad because i love the big screen and I normally have it with me. We used the Ipad exclusively while in Australia and it works great plus we had TOMTOM loaded on it for route planning etc..
Garmin Oregon 450 GPSR this is our latest baby and is very accurate but we prefer the Iphone for maps and logging the cache.
Canon 500D DSLR I love to take pictures and I am learning to use the real camera, while on the longer caches in nice locations we take our time and take lots of pictures
Tweezers to get those nano logs out
Dental mirror from the two dollar shop
Replacement log books also ways a good idea to help out other cachers and replace full log books. We also ways keep the old one and contact the cache owner just in case they want it back.
Mosquito repellent for my English blood.
Pen & Pencil
Caching bag to hold all the above plus lots more items that Catherine just pulls out
As you can tell from the 1st 3 items I love the latest and greatest gadget ![]()
Would love to know what you carry with you so leave a comment for everyone else to read !

After several months of downtime for the iPhone app – Geocaching.com – Twitter connection that posts tweets to your twitter feed every time you log a find via the app
you need to update your twitter a/c for it to work
